We apologize for some glitches we've recently been experiencing on Chatline and we're working hard to resolve them. If you experience a glitch while chatting, please keep trying again, or feel free to call our phone lines. Please also feel free to leave us feedback on our form.

If at any time you would prefer to speak to a volunteer over the phone or if our chat rooms are busy, feel free to call McGill Student’s Nightline at 514-398-6246 between the hours of 6PM and 3AM, any night of the week.

All our conversations are kept confidential, and chats are never saved.

About Us

Chatline is a student-run, online extension of McGill Students’ Nightline.

We are a confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental messaging service that provides support to the McGill and greater Montréal community. Our volunteers are not professionals; we are a peer-support service. We aim to provide the community with a variety of support, which includes anything from information to crisis management and referrals. We are an English service. Everyone is welcome to use Nightline.

Please note that our lines are open during exams, but closed during summer and winter break.

Click here for more information on McGill Students’ Nightline, and check us out on Facebook.

Interested in volunteering with us? Great! We require that our volunteers are:

McGill undergraduate or graduate students

Comfortable conversing in English

Passionate about providing a listening ear to others

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please email  at the beginning of either the fall or winter semester.
